J. Randolph Robida, P.C.
focuses its legal practice on business planning, estate planning, estate and trust administration and probate, and tax law (including representation before the IRS and the courts).  Our office combines large firm experience with small firm service and excellence. The office was established by Randy Robida in Denver in 1996 and provides legal services ranging from the drafting of simple wills to Tax Court litigation.  

Biographical Information:  Randy Robida was born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1957. His father was a Naval Aviator, and Randy lived in Florida, Texas, California, Washington State and Virginia while growing up. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1980, and from the Law School at the College of William & Mary in 1984. Following law school he worked in the tax department of Peat Marwick in Norfolk, Virginia, then opened a solo law practice in Virginia Beach. In 1988, he came to Denver to attend the Graduate Tax Program at the University of Denver and has stayed in the Denver area ever since. He worked in the tax department of Ernst & Young in Denver for two years and at a Denver law firm for four years before opening his own law office in 1996. 

Qualifications & Experience:  Randy has degrees in Law, Business (accounting), and Tax Law.  He has over 20 years experience as an attorney and a Certified Public Accountant, including 4 years with the tax departments of Big Five C.P.A. firms and over 10 years in solo law practice. Randy has an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is a frequent speaker on tax issues, business and estate planning and estate administration at continuing education seminars for attorneys, accountants and paralegals. He is also active in the Trust and Estate Section of the Colorado Bar Association, currently serving as chair of the Orange Book Forms Committee (for reviewing, drafting, and revising Colorado Estate Planning Forms). Randy is licensed to practice before the United States Tax Court, the United States 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and all Colorado Courts. Randy also has his Private Pilot license.

  • Master of Laws in Taxation: University of Denver School of Law, University of Denver. August 1989.

  • Juris Doctor: Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William & Mary. December 1984.

  • Bachelor of Science: Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Business (accounting), August 1980.
